Dos Palos Youth in Crisis Outreach/Pantry Providing Food and Clothing to Prevent Starvatiion and Suffering in Central California
For eight years Dos Palos Youth in Crisis Outreach has worked to prevent hunger and starvation in Central California. Under the strong and motivated leadership of Kathy Fowler and her sister Phyllis Legg, literally thousands of familes including childrena and parents have received a food lifeline from this work.
Starting out in a small way, both were shocked by the conditions of food scarcity and lack of nutrition for children and parents in an area known for massive food produciton. For seven years, Kathy along with local volunteers has driven 150 miles each way towing a horse trailer to get donated food from Martha's Kitchen a bay area, non profit soup kitchen and hot meal provider.
Each week, DPYICO, serves over 1300 men, women, and children of all ethnicities and ages during a time of great financial distress. Financial donations and volunteers are badly needed to support and extend our work.
